MADISON, Miss. (February 19, 2020) – We’re happy to announce Don Davis as the new senior vice president and general manager of Vertex Aerospace’s Aircraft Integration & Sustainment (AIS) division, with sites in Crestview, Florida and Warner Robins, Georgia. AIS specializes in aerospace engineering and fabrication, major and minor airframe assemblies, and aircraft maintenance and modifications for leading prime contractors and original equipment manufacturers.

“I’m honored to have been given this opportunity to lead the AIS team, continuing the reputation of excellence our employees have earned in this tough industry,” said Davis. “I’m responsible for the division’s strategic growth and plan to continue leveraging our systems integration and rapid prototyping competencies while growing our in-house partnerships to create more business and employment opportunities.”

Prior to this position, Don served as senior vice president of Business Development and Strategy at Vertex’s headquarters in Madison, Mississippi. Don’s career in aviation began in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a helicopter mechanic, crew chief and an aircraft maintenance officer, retiring as a Marine aircraft group maintenance officer in 2001 after 25 years of service. In the 15 years prior to joining Vertex, he held numerous senior and executive level positions in operations, business development, and strategy at both Boeing and DRS.

Don’s arrival at AIS is aptly timed as the division will soon unveil a new ballistic foam facility at its Crestview site, co-located at the Bob Sikes Airport. Ballistic foam prevents fires, adds strength to aviation structures, slows down the speed of projectiles, and offers cost effective armoring and protection.

“This new ballistic foam facility enables Vertex to increase its capacity allowing us to meet market demands for this critical product,” said Davis. “We’re proud to offer our customers an additional capability that demonstrates our agility and positions us at the top of the mid-level aerospace market.”

Don succeeds Brian Anderson who recently resigned from the Company. Bill Beard assumed the role of senior vice president of Business Development and Strategy from Don Davis. He also serves as the senior vice president of Corporate Business Operations and is located at Vertex’s Mississippi headquarters.
